Photographers Corner

Included in the slide show above are a range of photographs that either I or my wife have taken on or around our holiday rental here in the South of France. What I have hopefully demonstrated is that there is an abundance of opportunities for an amateur or professional photographer to exercise his hobby or profession.

This is actually a passion I hold dear and I am always personally looking for opportunities to take my next photograph. You can probably tell from the photographs that I have presented here that I have been blown away by the beauty and majesty of the French skies, whether that is a sunset, cloud over water or just simply a cloud sitting there in it's own glory.

I have seen skies equally as glorious in other parts of the world but never at the same level of frequency or variety, it seems like every day a new and beautiful image is presented.

This really is, in my opinion, a photographers dream location, especially in spring or autumn when you can add the elements of nature to the equation, the changing colours of the landscape, the wildlife going about it's business and fabulous landscapes. I have visited the Mediterranean coastline, the Pyrenees and our local area in these pictures but so far this has been just the tip of the iceberg, there are so many photo opportunities and I have still yet to explore the Black Mountain National Park which is just up the road from us and is well overdue a visit.

I have also included some shots from Carcassonne and Toulouse for some of the amazing architecture in the area plus there are photographs of local villages, and some of the civil engineering feats that seem to be dotted around us, for example the fantastic Millau Viaduct which is only an hour and a half or so from us, may sound a long way but for France that is practically on the doorstep.

I use a Nikon D40 camera to take my photographs and when required I can tweak them with Photoshop, I prefer not to but occasionally there is a need.

If you are interested in visiting this region to share the photographic opportunities I have demonstrated, then please get in touch.

We would love to see you here and have a lovely gite set in woodlands just out in the countryside which is available for rent. You can find details of the gite on the French Holidays Aude website where you can visit the gallery page for another look at the slide show.

If you want to discuss digital photography or Photoshop techniques I would be more than happy to do that. In fact if you are new to the whole digital photography thing and would like some insights into Photoshop please just ask.

Below are a few photographs sent to us from David and Madeleine after their visit to Le Moulin, they were clearly more vigilant than I have been in the past and managed to get several shots of a deer passing through the field in front of the house. They also opted for a slightly easier shot of next door's geese who were more than happy to pose for the occasion.

  1. Fantastic photographs! Are you on flickr or any other photo sites?

  2. Hi, many thanks for your comment, I have a small presence on Flickr with a couple of albums listed there, I have also put some albums on Picasa. It is Picasa that drives the slide show on this post, I also have it showing on the photography page on my main website called Gallery with some stills that you can click on for a larger view.

I started to place a lot of my photographs on RedGage which is a free subscription site that pays you on a per views basis. I have had a few of my photographs featured as well which means you get a bonus payment and more visibility.

A good site to be on in theory but they are still having a lot of teething problems as they are relatively new. You just type 'by BrianRS' in the search box to find my stuff.

I think when they have sorted the bugs out I'll go back and post more photographs or I may do my own blog dedicated to photography. It is a real passion of mine.
