The Easter holidays are nearly upon us, and the thought of entertaining the kids for two weeks is daunting. Let's assume you've booked the time off work and you're trying to jot down a list of things to keep your little ones occupied. Easter egg hunt, check. Visit Grandma's, check. Long pause. OK, it's not easy, so here's an alternative. Picturesque views, long walks, bike rides, peace and tranquility, experience the slow-pace lifestyle for a week or two... here in France. Suddenly, that list you've been making has just got bigger.
We've got some friends coming over to stay for a few days, we suggested they compare flights before booking their flight and they found a fantastic deal so traveling at Easter turned out to be a lot cheaper than they thought it would be. A number of our guests have said the same thing, so it must be true.
With just over a week to go before the holidays are here you might want to think about all the things you want to do when you get here. Last year we had an Easter egg hunt and nature trail for the kids, and they absolutely loved it. That reminds me, I must dig out and dust off the handmade baskets... something to put the eggs in and all the other treasures they may find. I'll find some time this week to decorate them too. Last time, it was particularly special because the weather was fantastic. Do you remember the lovely April we had? well we're expecting the same again this year too. Fingers crossed it doesn't get too hot it melts the chocolate. I didn't particularly want to mention the weather here but it seemed fitting, but because I have I may as well tell you my theory. I think, as we've had a typical traditional winter, ie, lots of snow, I expecting a typical spring, summer and autumn. I hope so anyway.
When the kids are packed off to bed after a long days hunting and gorging on chocolate, you'll want to sit back and relax, enjoy the local wines and cheeses... and there's plenty to choose from. Remember, you're on holiday too, the kids aren't the only ones ought to be having fun - you might want to keep some chocolate back for yourself. Or at least save some for me.
